According to the official RCMP release, the first incident occurred at approximately 4:10 a.m. on May 15, inside a restaurant on the 1500 block of Main Street in Dauphin. The suspect and a 47-year-old man were seated together when a dispute broke out. Police report that the suspect allegedly took the victim’s walking cane, struck him with it, and then left the business carrying the cane. The victim did not require medical treatment.
Later that day, RCMP officers arrested the suspect without incident and released him with conditions pending further investigation.
The second incident was reported on May 18 at about 1:20 p.m. at a store on 1st Avenue Northeast in Dauphin. Police say the same suspect, who is barred from attending that store, was in the parking lot when a 16-year-old male employee advised him he was not allowed on the property. The suspect allegedly threatened the youth, briefly stepped away, then returned and threw a rock at him. No physical injuries were reported.
RCMP officers located the suspect shortly after this second incident and arrested him.
The accused, 21-year-old Raiden Oshawee of Dauphin, has been charged in relation to both occurrences. The charges listed by police include:
- Robbery
- Assault with a weapon
- Uttering threats
Police report that Oshawee has been remanded into custody following these charges.
