When officers arrived at the Fort Saskatchewan business at approximately 2:12 a.m., a pickup truck associated with the suspect fled the scene, rammed two marked police vehicles, and took off along Highway 15 toward Edmonton. A coordinated police response, including air support and real-time operations, led to the safe arrest of the lone occupant on Highway 37 and Range Road 243 in Sturgeon County. The accused has since been remanded in custody.

According to the RCMP, Fort Saskatchewan officers were alerted shortly before the incident that Strathcona RCMP had responded to a break and enter at the same business in Sherwood Park and believed the suspect might travel to Fort Saskatchewan. When Fort Saskatchewan members arrived at the business on 99 Avenue and 100 Street, they encountered a pickup truck that immediately attempted to escape.
