On Nov. 10, 2025, officers from the Grande Prairie RCMP and the Grande Prairie Police Service (GPPS) responded to reports of gunfire in an alley near 100 Avenue and 96 Street in the City of Grande Prairie, Alberta. One person was seriously injured during this incident and has since been left paralyzed as a result of the shooting.

The Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), supported by RCMP General Duty members, the Forensic Identification Section, and GPPS, conducted an extended and detailed investigation. Investigators identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant. A 34-year-old resident of Grande Prairie has now been arrested and charged in connection with this serious firearms incident.

According to the official information released by the RCMP, the shooting occurred in an alleyway adjacent to 100 Avenue and 96 Street in Grande Prairie, following reports of shots fired. The victim sustained life-altering injuries and is now paralyzed. RCMP GIS assumed primary responsibility for the case, coordinating with frontline officers and forensic specialists to gather evidence and advance the investigation.

Following this work, a 34-year-old Grande Prairie resident was arrested and charged with multiple offences. These charges reflect both the harm caused to the victim and the alleged unlawful use and possession of a firearm.

The individual has appeared before a justice of the peace and has been remanded into custody. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 20, 2026.
