An emergency alert was issued due to the involvement of a firearm and was later cancelled after officers recovered firearms and secured the immediate area.

According to the official information released by the Nova Scotia RCMP, the incident unfolded as follows:
- At approximately 1:25 a.m. on April 29, 2026, Colchester County District RCMP received a report of a home invasion at a residence on Hwy. 2 in East Shubenacadie.
- A man armed with a firearm entered the residence while a man and a woman were inside.
- The woman inside the home ran outside when the armed suspect entered.
- The armed suspect robbed the male occupant and then left in the victim’s truck, accompanied by another man and the woman.
- The RCMP Operational Communications Centre tracked the stolen truck and remotely immobilized it using the vehicle’s safety and support service on Ice Pond Drive in Salmon River.
- When officers arrived in the area, the two men and the woman fled on foot from the vehicle.
- Officers quickly located and arrested the woman; both male suspects initially remained outstanding.
- The Nova Scotia RCMP Critical Incident Program and Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) were deployed because a firearm had been seen during the home invasion.
- An emergency alert was issued to residents in the immediate and surrounding counties to support the police response and protect public safety.
- One of the men was later found in the area using RPAS technology and was safely arrested with assistance from Police Dog Services.
- Officers recovered two firearms from the stolen vehicle.
- By approximately 7:00 a.m., the emergency alert was cancelled.
Investigators have determined that this was a targeted incident and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the general public at this time. The remaining male suspect has not yet been identified or located, and the investigation is ongoing.
The following individuals are currently in custody as the investigation proceeds:
- 35-year-old woman from Truro – in custody in relation to the home invasion.
- 30-year-old man from Millbrook – in custody in relation to the home invasion.
