On the night of March 26, 2026, Kelowna RCMP responded to a fast-moving series of alleged offences that began with a robbery and vehicle theft near Bredin Road and Kent Road. A staff member from a local automotive business, who was out on a road test with a customer’s vehicle, was allegedly confronted by a man with a weapon who took the vehicle and fled, leaving the employee at the roadside.

As additional reports came in to the RCMP 911 Operational Communications Centre, officers learned that a man matching the same description was allegedly attempting to forcefully take other vehicles while moving north through Kelowna toward Rutland. Multiple specialized RCMP units coordinated to track and contain the suspect. A male suspect was located in the 3000-block of Sexsmith Road, where he had allegedly broken into a home and then tried to escape using a vehicle. He was arrested without further incident and the investigation has since been taken over by the Kelowna RCMP General Investigation Section.
