Section 2: Official Details of the Investigation
The RCMP investigation connected a series of incidents that unfolded as follows:
- Late February 2026 – A male and female known as prolific property offenders are released from custody on conditions, including no-contact between each other.
- March 6 (early morning) – Stony Plain: A 2007 Kia Sportage is stolen from a residence in Stony Plain, Alberta. Security video from a neighbouring home shows a female suspect taking the vehicle.
- March 6 (afternoon) – Spruce Grove: A second vehicle, a 2004 Ford F-350 truck, is stolen from a parking lot in Spruce Grove. Surveillance footage captures the previously stolen Kia Sportage arriving and a male passenger exiting before stealing the Ford truck.
- March 7 – Spruce Grove: A commercial break and enter is reported at a business in Spruce Grove. During the incident, a Cadillac ATS sedan and keys to several other vehicles are stolen. Nearby security footage again shows the stolen Kia Sportage and the same suspects involved.
- March 8 – Parkland County / Stony Plain: A 2010 Toyota Prius is stolen from a church parking lot in Parkland County. A Cadillac sedan is seen in the area at the time of the theft. Shortly afterwards, the stolen Cadillac and Prius arrive at two convenience stores in Stony Plain, where a female suspect uses credit cards taken from the Prius to make fraudulent purchases at two separate locations.
- March 10 – Rural Parkland County: Parkland RCMP members and plainclothes investigators attend a rural property in Parkland County connected to one of the suspects. A stolen 2004 Ford F-350 truck and a stolen 2024 Precision flat deck trailer are seized. The Parkland RCMP Crime Reduction Unit assumes conduct of the linked investigations and begins coordinated work with partner units to locate and arrest the suspects.
- March 11 – Lac Ste. Anne County & Parkland County: The K-Division Community Response Team (CRT) locates the stolen Cadillac ATS in the Onoway area of Lac Ste. Anne County, occupied by both suspects. The vehicle travels through Lac Ste. Anne and Parkland County and is driven in a dangerous manner. The RCMP Real Time Operations Centre (RTOC) coordinates CRT, Parkland plainclothes officers, an RCMP helicopter, Police Dog Services, and uniformed members from the Parkland and Evansburg detachments to monitor the vehicle. A tire deflation device is successfully deployed, disabling the Cadillac and allowing for the safe arrest of both suspects.

Accused #1: 28-year-old resident of Onoway
A 28-year-old resident of Onoway was arrested and charged with the following offences:

- Failure to comply with release order (x6)
- Possession of property obtained by crime (x2)
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Flight from police
- Theft from motor vehicle
Accused #2: 19-year-old resident of Stony Plain
A 19-year-old resident of Stony Plain was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Theft over $5,000 (x3)
- Failure to comply with release order (x8)
- Possession of property obtained by crime (x4)
- Dangerous operation
- Flight from police
- Fraudulent use of a credit card (x3)
Both accused have been remanded into custody, with their next court appearances scheduled for March 30, 2026, at the Alberta Court of Justice in St. Albert.
