RCMP arrest two suspects after thefts from Portage la Prairie businesses and auto dealership

RCMP in Portage la Prairie arrested two suspects after reported thefts from local businesses and an auto dealership.

RCMP Arrest Pair After Thefts From Portage la Prairie Businesses

On the afternoon of April 30, 2026, officers from the Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to reports that merchandise valued at about $1,200 had been stolen from two businesses on Sissons Drive in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. The items included clothing, footwear, and vehicle-related parts.

Police soon located an adult man and woman matching the descriptions of the suspects a short distance away, walking west toward another store on Saskatchewan Avenue West. The two were arrested inside a business, with several items still in their possession, and officers quickly uncovered evidence connecting them to both the reported thefts and a set of vehicle keys taken from a local auto dealership.

Official Incident Details

According to the RCMP, the initial complaint was received on April 30 at approximately 4:35 p.m. A report indicated that about $1,200 worth of clothing, shoes, and auto parts had been taken from two separate commercial locations on Sissons Drive in Portage la Prairie.

Responding officers found a male and female suspect nearby, walking toward another retail business on Saskatchewan Avenue West. They were arrested after entering the store. Police noted that the male suspect was wearing a sweater that still had security and price tags attached, indicating it had not been purchased.

During a search of the male suspect, officers discovered a set of car keys attached to a keychain bearing the name of a local auto dealership. Subsequent investigation determined that the associated vehicle was registered to that dealership. Police allege that earlier in the day, the couple had visited the dealership, taken a vehicle for a test drive, and after returning with a salesperson, removed the keys from a desk without permission.

The following charges have been laid in connection with this incident:

Accused: Lisa Klassen, 44, of Winnipeg

Accused: Nicolas Hudson, 47, of St. Eustache

The two accused were held in custody overnight pending a scheduled court appearance on Friday. Police state that the investigation remains active.
