Community Safety Alert: RCMP Seeking Wanted Man Near Loon Lake, SK
Section 1: The Alert
Loon Lake RCMP are asking the public across northwestern Saskatchewan to help locate 31-year-old Joshua Clarke of Edmonton, Alberta. Clarke is wanted on a warrant after allegedly fleeing from police in a vehicle and then escaping on foot in a rural, wooded area near Island Lake First Nation.
The incident occurred on May 21, 2026, at approximately 6:15 p.m., when officers on patrol responded to a report of an erratic driver on Island Lake First Nation. A vehicle stop attempt led to a pursuit, use of a tire deflation device on Highway 21, and an extended ground search with police dog and aerial support. Clarke has not yet been found, and police are urgently requesting public assistance while continuing their search near the Loon Lake, Saskatchewan crime and safety area.
Section 2: Official Incident Details
According to the official information from Loon Lake RCMP, officers were patrolling Island Lake First Nation in response to a complaint of an erratic driver when they located an SUV with two occupants. Officers believed one of the individuals in the SUV might be connected to a separate, ongoing investigation and attempted a traffic stop using emergency equipment. The SUV did not stop and instead departed at high speed.
For public and officer safety, police deployed a tire deflation device on Highway 21, which the SUV drove over before continuing for a distance and eventually coming to a stop. The driver then got out of the vehicle and ran into a nearby forested area. The passenger, who stayed with the vehicle, was arrested at the scene and later released without charges.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services tracked the fleeing driver for approximately 11 kilometres, and officers from Pierceland RCMP provided additional support, including an aerial search using a remotely piloted aircraft system. Despite these efforts, the driver was not located.
