On the afternoon of April 5, 2026, officers from Gleichen RCMP responded to a report about a person seen in a rural ditch along Range Road 233, south of Township Road 232, in Wheatland County, Alberta. When police arrived, they located a man who was confirmed deceased at the scene.
Investigators have determined that the deceased, a 66-year-old resident of Siksika First Nation, had been involved in a single-vehicle collision while travelling west on Township Road 232. His vehicle left the road into the south ditch, struck a culvert, and came to rest in a nearby field. Evidence indicates that he then attempted to walk away from the crash site before succumbing to his injuries. The man did not have a cell phone with him at the time. The RCMP investigation remains ongoing.

- Shortly before 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2026, police received a wellbeing concern about a person seen in a ditch along Range Road 233, south of Township Road 232, in rural Wheatland County.
- Officers attended and found a male who was determined to be deceased.
- Investigation showed that the man had been driving westbound on Township Road 232 when his vehicle crossed into the south ditch, struck a culvert, and came to a stop in a field.
- Evidence suggests he left the vehicle and attempted to walk from the collision scene before dying from his injuries.
- The deceased is a 66-year-old man from Siksika First Nation. His name has not been released in this alert.
- The man did not have access to a cell phone, which may have delayed his ability to call for emergency assistance.
