RCMP Recover Stolen Van and Trailer in Harmony, Nova Scotia

Community Safety Alert: Property Theft Investigation in Kings County

Kings District RCMP have laid multiple theft-related charges after officers recovered a stolen van and a stolen travel trailer at a property in Harmony, Nova Scotia. The recovery followed a targeted search on a rural property, initiated after police received information that a recently stolen vehicle had been seen at that location.

On April 28, 2026, officers executed a search warrant in the 1400 block of Harmony Road. During the operation, police recovered a van reported stolen on April 25, and also located a travel trailer that had been reported stolen the same day from Brooklyn Street in North Kingston. A 38-year-old Harmony resident has since been arrested and charged in connection with the thefts.

Official Incident Details

Investigators from Kings District RCMP attended the Harmony Road property after receiving information that a van, previously reported stolen, had been seen there. While confirming the identity of the van, officers also identified a travel trailer on site that matched the description of a second vehicle reported stolen on April 25 from the North Kingston area.

The accused, Travis Darrell Seyforth, 38, of Harmony, Nova Scotia, was arrested at the scene and is facing the following charges under the Criminal Code and related legislation:

Through their investigation, officers determined that a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, linked to Seyforth, was allegedly used to tow the stolen travel trailer at the time of the offence. That Toyota Tacoma has been seized by police as offence-related property and will form part of the ongoing evidence in this case.

Seyforth was brought before Kentville Provincial Court on April 28, 2026. Following his initial appearance, he was released on conditions set by the court. His next scheduled court date is May 15, 2026, where the matter is expected to proceed further through the justice system.

This investigation is documented under RCMP file numbers 2026-539410 and 2026-539774. CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective

From the perspective of CrimeCanada.ca, this incident highlights the ongoing risk of vehicle and trailer thefts in both rural and semi-rural communities of Nova Scotia. Stolen vehicles and trailers can be quickly moved, resold, or used to facilitate other criminal activities. When police are able to rapidly locate and recover stolen property, it reduces financial loss for victims and helps prevent associated crimes.

Residents in areas like Harmony, North Kingston, and across Kings County are encouraged to take practical steps to reduce the risk of theft: secure vehicles and trailers with proper locks, avoid leaving keys in unattended vehicles, store registration documents in a safe place rather than inside the vehicle, and consider additional measures such as wheel locks or hitch locks for trailers. Reporting suspicious behaviour around driveways, farmyards, or commercial lots to local police can be critical, just as accurate reporting and data are crucial for understanding crime patterns in communities across Canada—similar to how we track trends in our city-level safety reports such as the New Credit (Part) 40A crime statistics and safety data.

CrimeCanada.ca remains committed to making official police information more accessible so that residents can stay informed, recognize emerging patterns of property crime, and work with law enforcement to build safer neighbourhoods in Nova Scotia and beyond.
