How the Community Can Help

CrimeCanada.ca is joining Ferryland RCMP in asking the public for immediate assistance in identifying the suspects and supporting this investigation. If you recognize the individuals or vehicle shown in the surveillance images, or if you have any related information (such as dashcam footage from Route 10 near Foodland around the time of the incident), you are urged to contact police.

Even seemingly small details—such as noticing a grey Honda parked unusually or recalling specific clothing worn by shoppers—may help investigators confirm identities or timelines. Community reporting is a key factor in resolving property crime incidents quickly and preventing repeat offences.

CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective

While theft from retail stores may appear minor compared with violent crime, persistent property offences can significantly affect local businesses and residents, especially in smaller communities like those served by the Ferryland detachment. Losses from shoplifting increase operating costs, which can ultimately impact prices and service for customers. Our analysis of Ferryland-area crime and safety trends shows that prompt reporting and strong cooperation between residents, businesses, and police helps keep crime levels lower and strengthens overall community resilience.

CrimeCanada.ca encourages grocery stores and other retailers to regularly review their security practices, including keeping surveillance systems maintained and ensuring staff feel comfortable reporting suspicious activity early. Shoppers can support community safety by staying observant, noting unusual behaviour, and sharing information with Ferryland RCMP when something seems off. Choosing to report what you see—whether directly or anonymously through Crime Stoppers—is a practical, everyday way to help protect local businesses and maintain a safe environment for everyone.
