On May 5, 2026, officers from the Valleyview RCMP executed a search warrant at two homes in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Alberta. Court Appearances and Custody Status

All four accused were brought before a justice of the peace. The 28-year-old, 42-year-old, and 18-year-old were remanded into custody and scheduled to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Valleyview on May 7, 2026. The 40-year-old was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear before the same court on May 21, 2026.
