Whitehorse RCMP Invite Public Input on 2026–27 Policing Priorities

The Whitehorse RCMP Detachment is asking residents, businesses, and community partners in Whitehorse, Yukon to help shape its local policing priorities for the 2026–2027 year. A public survey is now open and will remain available until May 7, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

Detachment-level priorities guide how police resources are focused in the community, including issues such as crime prevention, visibility, and community engagement. The Yukon Minister of Justice, the Yukon Police Council, and the Yukon Department of Justice set broader priorities for Yukon RCMP, while the Whitehorse RCMP adds local, community-specific priorities using feedback from residents and stakeholders. This survey is one of the main tools used to gather that input.

Why Your Input Matters for Community Safety

From the perspective of CrimeCanada.ca, community-driven policing priorities are a key part of building safer neighbourhoods in Yukon. When residents share the issues they see day to day—whether they relate to property crime, traffic safety, youth concerns, or public disorder—police can align their strategies more closely with real community needs. These local insights help explain and complement the trends seen in data such as the Whitehorse Crime Statistics & Safety Report.

For residents of Whitehorse, this survey is a practical way to influence how policing resources are focused in your area. Consider what you experience in your neighbourhood: areas where you feel unsafe, recurring nuisance behaviour, or places where increased police visibility could help. Sharing that information through the RCMP’s survey supports more responsive policing and strengthens collaboration between the public and law enforcement.
