Investigators are asking the public for help to reconstruct the movements and associations of Christopher Newton, a 33-year-old Indigenous man, whose remains were discovered near Nelson, British Columbia, approximately 18 months after he was last seen. Police are working to understand what happened to him and are urgently seeking information from anyone who had contact with him over a specific period.

Newton was last confirmed in the 2-Mile / North Shore area near Nelson, BC on December 24, 2023. Human remains were later located in the same general area, and on March 2, 2026, the BC Coroners Service identified those remains as belonging to Christopher. The RCMP Southeast District General Investigation Section has since taken over the case and is appealing to potential witnesses across the community.
