A 51-year-old Main Point man has been charged with online child exploitation offences following an investigation that lasted several months, according to the RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador. Police said Gerald Nippard of Main Point was arrested on Monday, October 26, 2026, by the RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation (IICE) Unit.

Search warrant in March

According to police, the IICE unit carried out a search warrant at a home in Main Point in March 2026 in connection with a report of online child exploitation activity. The warrant was obtained under the Criminal Code. Police said several electronic devices were seized and later analysed as part of the investigation.

The RCMP said the arrest followed that digital forensic analysis, along with other evidence gathered.

Next steps

Police said Nippard was released on conditions intended to protect the public. He is scheduled to appear in Gander Provincial Court on December 15, 2026.

The RCMP noted that these cases require complex forensic examination of seized electronics as well as further investigative work, which is why charges are often laid many months after a search warrant is executed.
