Warning in effect
White Rock RCMP are warning residents to be cautious after receiving reports that scammers are spoofing the detachment's phone number and pretending to be police officers investigating identity theft, police said in a release dated October 27, 2026.
According to the RCMP, the callers ask for personal information while making it look as though the call is coming from White Rock RCMP. Police said that, so far, none of the people who reported the calls gave out any information.
"Scammers can make it look like they are calling from a legitimate phone number, including a police detachment," said Staff Sergeant Rob Dixon, White Rock RCMP Detachment Commander.
Staff Sgt. Dixon advised anyone who gets a call from someone claiming to be police, and who is unsure whether it is real, to hang up and call the detachment directly using a publicly listed phone number to confirm the call.
