Editorial & ad standards

Separation and transparency

• We keep a clear separation between editorial decisions and commercial arrangements.
• Sponsored content is labelled (e.g., “Sponsored” or “Advertisement”).
• We avoid alarmist framing and discourage content that inflames fear or targets private individuals.

Accuracy and substantiation

• Advertisers must not make misleading claims or imply official status/approval unless it is true and verifiable.
• Claims about results (“we guarantee…”, “100% success”, “always approved”) are not accepted.
• We may ask for substantiation for objective claims (e.g., certifications, pricing, service availability).

We design these standards to support responsible communication and alignment with Canadian misleading-advertising expectations and major ad-platform policies.

Advertiser requirements

To protect readers and maintain credibility, we generally require:

• Truthful positioning: No false urgency, fear-based manipulation, or exaggerated outcomes.
• Clear identity: The advertiser must be identifiable (business name, contact method, and jurisdiction where relevant).
• Proper labelling: Sponsored content must be clearly labelled; we do not publish “stealth ads.”
• Regulated services: If you’re a regulated professional (e.g., legal services), you are responsible for complying with your regulator’s rules and your jurisdiction’s requirements.
• Privacy-respectful campaigns: Campaigns must not request or publish sensitive personal information about alleged victims/accused or private individuals.

Restricted / prohibited categories

We may decline or restrict ads that create safety, legal, or credibility risks. Examples include:

• Weapons and weapon accessories, instructions for violence, or “how-to” harm content.
• Hate, harassment, or discriminatory targeting.
• Adult sexual content, escort services, or explicit material.
• Fraud, impersonation, “guaranteed” outcomes, or unverifiable claims.
• Graphic/shocking imagery designed primarily to provoke.
• Content that names or targets private individuals in connection with alleged wrongdoing.

Restrictions may be stricter than what is legally permitted because we prioritize reader safety, brand trust, and platform compliance.

Review process

To keep the site trustworthy, we use a basic review workflow:

• Submission: You send creative, landing page URL, target audience, and jurisdictions served.
• Screening: We review for misleading claims, unsafe content, and category restrictions.
• Labelling: We confirm “Sponsored/Advertisement” labelling where required.
• Go-live: Timing depends on inventory and review complexity. We may request revisions.

Metrics and reporting

Where available, we can share basic delivery metrics (for example, impressions or clicks) depending on the campaign type and platform. We do not promise specific results or outcomes.

Changes and takedowns

We reserve the right to pause or remove ads that later appear misleading, unsafe, or inconsistent with our standards, including after receiving credible complaints.
