Community Alert: Powerview RCMP Seek Robbery Suspect in RM of Alexander

Incident Overview

On the evening of June 6, 2026, officers from Powerview RCMP responded to a violent robbery at a business situated along Highway 59 near its intersection with Highway 11 in the Rural Municipality of Alexander, Manitoba. A man was reportedly stealing liquor from the business when an employee intervened as the suspect attempted to flee on an ATV.

During the confrontation, the employee held onto the suspect and both ended up in a roadside ditch. The suspect then used the ATV to run over the employee before driving away from the scene. A search of the area recovered stolen liquor, a knife, and a jacket believed to belong to the fleeing suspect. The injured employee, a 40-year-old man from the RM of Victoria Beach, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Official RCMP Details

Following the initial response, officers spotted the suspect’s ATV on Highway 11, near Sagkeeng Junior High School. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and continued into the wooded area behind Turtle Lodge, heading toward the nearby townsite. A coordinated search effort, including a police drone and Police Dog Services, was conducted, but the suspect was not located.

Employees and bystanders are strongly encouraged to prioritize their own safety: call police immediately rather than physically intervening with a fleeing suspect, especially when vehicles or weapons may be involved.
