RCMP Alert: Attempted Murder Charge in Iqaluit

On the evening of July 23, 2026, at around 8:30 p.m., the RCMP responded to a disturbance reported at a residence on Joamie Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 39-year-old male victim with a life-threatening stab wound.

The victim was urgently transported to the Qikiqtani General Hospital and later airlifted to Ottawa for further treatment. Kevin Mathewsie was apprehended on July 24, 2026, and is facing multiple charges.
