- On June 21, 2026, officers became aware that a green Volkswagen Beetle stolen from Cape Breton had been reported in Pictou County.
- The same vehicle is believed to have fled from an attempted traffic stop by the Westville Police Service.
- On June 22, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., an RCMP officer on proactive patrols located the green Beetle parked outside a residence in Abercrombie, Pictou County.
- Police checks confirmed it was the vehicle that had been reported stolen.
- Officers observed two firearms in plain view inside the vehicle and, during a more detailed search, ultimately seized four weapons from the car.
