RCMP Arrest Suspect After Overnight Break-In Near Rockwood, MB
Community Safety Alert: Break and Enter Interrupted by Police
In the early morning hours of June 4, 2026, officers from Stonewall RCMP arrested a suspect during an active break and enter at a business in the 9500 block of Highway 7 in the Rural Municipality (RM) of Rockwood, Manitoba. Police were responding to a commercial alarm when they found a running pickup truck and trailer positioned at the rear of the business and discovered signs of a forced entry.
Officers located a lone suspect inside the darkened shop, where a front-end loader had been started and appeared to be in the process of being prepared for removal. The man, wearing dark clothing and a face covering, surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident. Subsequent checks revealed the pickup truck at the scene had been reported stolen days earlier from a location in the RM of St. Andrews, and power tools believed to belong to the business were found inside the vehicle.
Official RCMP Incident Details
According to Stonewall RCMP, officers received a report of multiple alarm activations at approximately 2:48 a.m. at a business on Highway 7 in the RM of Rockwood. When officers arrived at about 3:15 a.m., they observed:

CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective
From the perspective of CrimeCanada.ca, this incident underscores how quickly property crimes can unfold during overnight hours, especially in commercial and industrial areas along major routes like Highway 7. The rapid response by Stonewall RCMP likely prevented the theft of high-value equipment and additional damage to the property.
For communities across Manitoba, including smaller centres and rural municipalities, we encourage business owners to maintain functioning alarm systems, good exterior lighting, and secure storage for vehicles, trailers, and power tools. Residents should promptly report suspicious activity—such as vehicles idling near closed businesses late at night or unusual loading of equipment—to local police through non-emergency lines, and call 911 when a crime appears to be in progress. Community vigilance, combined with timely police intervention, plays a critical role in preventing repeat break-ins and reducing overall property crime risk.
