RCMP Alert: Sexual Interference Charge in Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation

On July 12, 2026, an incident prompted the Ahtahkakoop RCMP to charge a man with forcible confinement and sexual interference. The suspect allegedly communicated with a teenage girl via social media before meeting her on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and driving away with her. The situation was quickly reported to police, and officers located the suspect and the girl in Nipawin within two hours.

Following an extensive investigation, Drann McKay, 22, from Nipawin, has been charged with unlawful confinement and sexual interference. He appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court on July 16, 2026. The investigation received support from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Nipawin detachment, Forensic Identification Services, and Serious Crimes Unit.
