Cold Lake Alert: Business Break-Ins Lead to Arrest

In early July 2026, the Cold Lake RCMP Crime Reduction Unit responded to an increase in break-ins targeting the downtown business area. A total of 16 incidents alarmed the business community starting from June, prompting an investigation by the authorities.

On July 9, 2026, a combined effort by the Cold Lake CRU, General Investigation Section, RCMP detachment, and Police Dog Services led to the search and arrest of a 42-year-old resident. The arrest took place on 47 Street in Cold Lake, Alberta.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the suspect was remanded in custody and is set to appear in court on July 13, 2026, in Lac La Biche. The RCMP acknowledges the pivotal role of local businesses in providing surveillance footage that led to the arrest.
