On the morning of July 21, 2026, a motorist traveling on the Trans-Canada Highway near Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, created a dangerous and alarming situation. The RCMP in Portage la Prairie responded swiftly after reports indicated that a male driver waved what appeared to be a handgun at other drivers near his vehicle’s sunroof.
Within 20 minutes, officers, with support from Amaranth RCMP, located the suspect’s vehicle near the intersection with Highway 16 and performed a traffic stop. A 25-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested without incident, and it was determined that he was brandishing an airsoft replica BB handgun.
