Durham Regional Police are investigating two reports involving Halloween candy collected in Ajax and Pickering on Oct. 31. A family found a small piece of wire inside a packaged gummy candy, while another family found a sewing needle loose among collected candy, police said.

In Ajax, the gummy candy had been collected in the Rossland Road West and Church Street North area. The family that found the wire could not determine where the candy had been received, according to police. No injuries were reported in that incident.

In a separate incident in Pickering, a family found the sewing needle while sorting candy collected in the Sultana Square, Foxwood Trail and Braeburn Crescent area. Police said the needle was loose among the candy, rather than inside a candy or chip package. No injuries were reported.
