Edmonton police are investigating a fatal collision at 34 Street and 43 Avenue in the city’s southeast after a 35-year-old pedestrian died in hospital on Nov. 5, 2026. The man was struck by a BMW X1 after it collided with a Honda CR-V at the intersection on Oct. 9.
Investigators believe the BMW’s 20-year-old male driver was travelling south and failed to stop at a red light. Police said the BMW entered the intersection and collided with an eastbound Honda CR-V.
At the time of the collision, the 35-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman were crossing the street from the southwest corner. Police said the BMW continued through the intersection after the collision and struck both pedestrians.
Neither driver reported injuries to police.
Investigation continues
Speaking about the man’s death, Acting Staff Sergeant Richard Windover of the Edmonton Police Service’s Major Collision Investigations Section said the family was grieving more than three weeks after the collision.
“More than three weeks after this collision occurred, a family is now grieving the loss of a loved one,” Windover said. He also offered the police service’s condolences to the man’s friends and family.
The Edmonton Police Service said its Major Collision Investigations Section is continuing to investigate the fatal collision.
