In a separate case, police arrested a 19-year-old Guelph man after another man was beaten at a downtown business late Thursday. Emergency services were called just before midnight to a business near Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street.
Police said several males were involved in a physical altercation. One man's head was slammed on a counter, leaving him unconscious. While he was on the floor, he was punched in the face and head and repeatedly stomped on, police said. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
The 19-year-old was arrested for assault causing bodily harm and is scheduled to appear in court February 2. The occurrence number is GU26076632.
