Lake Cowichan RCMP are investigating two vehicle fires they consider suspicious after a Ford F-350 and a Toyota Tacoma burned in separate locations. The fires occurred overnight in the early hours of Oct. 31, 2026, in Lake Cowichan, police said.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 31, officers responded to a vehicle fire on Johnson Place to assist Lake Cowichan Fire. At the scene, police saw a Ford F-350 that had been damaged by fire, according to the RCMP.

While they were investigating that incident, police were called to a second report of a vehicle on fire, this time in the 140 block of Berar Road. When officers arrived, they found that a Toyota Tacoma had also burned, police said.

The two vehicles were located approximately 2.5 kilometres apart. Police said they consider both fires suspicious because of the time they occurred and their proximity to one another. The two incidents remain under investigation.
