Hamilton police arrested a man on suspicion of possession for the purpose of trafficking near 94 York Boulevard on Nov. 1, after officers found suspected fentanyl and 131 suspected Dilaudid pills, the service said.
The arrest happened at approximately 1:30 p.m. during a patrol by CORE officers. Police said officers were in the area in response to numerous community complaints about open drug use and trespassing.
As officers approached, they saw a man put a drug pipe, a scale and a bag on a sharps container, according to police. The man was arrested and a search followed, the service said.

Police said the search turned up:
- Approximately 28 grams of suspected fentanyl and 26 pills believed to contain fentanyl;
- A small quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 131 suspected Dilaudid pills;
- Five cellphones, scales, packaging materials and cash.
Reporting drug activity
Police said they use community reports alongside other operational data to identify patterns, guide proactive patrols and support investigations.
Residents and businesses can report suspected drug activity through a new online police tool. The platform has received 110 reports since its launch in September, police said. It accepts reports of suspected drug use or dealing that people have observed when an immediate response is not required.
Online reports do not bring an immediate police response. For emergencies or incidents in progress, police ask people to call 9-1-1. For non-emergencies requiring a more immediate response, call 905-546-4925.
