Drugs seized after car drives onto walkway

At about 12:14 a.m. on November 2, officers were called to a convenience store near McDonnel Street and Park Street North after a car drove over a curb and onto the walkway in front of the store. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment. A search after his arrest turned up:

  • Cash

Two more impaired driving arrests

At about 4:05 a.m. on October 31, officers went to the Hancox Court and Glenforest Boulevard area after a parked vehicle was struck. They found a vehicle sitting halfway on the road and halfway on the lawn. A 34-year-old Peterborough man is charged with impaired operation (alcohol and drugs), operation with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 or more, and three Highway Traffic Act offences: obstructing a plate, driving with a modified seat belt assembly and failing to surrender a licence. He is due in court December 8, 2026.

On November 1, police received a call around 6 p.m. about a vehicle going onto the shoulder but could not locate it. At about 7:40 p.m., a second call reported a driver passed out in a running vehicle in a parking lot near George Street and Rink Street. Officers said it was the same vehicle. A 35-year-old Peterborough man faces the same two impaired charges and is due in court December 15, 2026.

Both men received an automatic 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment and were released on appearance notices.

Break-in and assault charges

At about 6:30 a.m. on November 1, an officer on patrol near Townsend Street and Rubidge Street saw a man trying to enter a second-storey window of a building under construction. Police said he had no ties to the building, and a small amount of fentanyl was seized after his arrest. A 38-year-old Peterborough man is charged with break and enter with intent and possession of an opioid. He appeared in weekend court November 1.

A 46-year-old Peterborough woman is charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. Police allege a 58-year-old woman was punched and bitten at a residence on October 29, and that a 21-year-old woman was grabbed by the hair, had her glasses slapped off and was pushed into a wall on October 13. The accused was arrested November 1 and held for court.
