Police also seized a Glock switch. Police said they believe the drugs were being held for trafficking and had not yet been sold or consumed by anyone.

"This seizure is significant. It represents the largest quantity of fentanyl and GHB ever seized by Halifax Regional Police, and we believe it is the largest seizure of fentanyl and GHB in Atlantic Canada as well," said Staff Sergeant Nick Pepler.

Pepler also warned that drug users should be cautious, saying illicit drugs may be laced with other substances, such as fentanyl, which increases the risk of overdose, serious injury or death.

Charges

John Waye, 73, Krista Waye, 43, and Jaime Beaton, 43, each face the same charges:

The charges have not been proven in court.

Investigation continues

Investigators said they do not believe the three accused were acting alone. Police believe the drugs were brought into the region through organized crime and that others were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
