Arrested

Toronto police say a 35-year-old Toronto man has been charged in a human trafficking investigation involving two people. Police announced the charges on November 4, 2026, and released an image of the accused.

The Human Trafficking Unit began its investigation in Toronto in September 2026, according to police. Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Allegations and charges

Police allege that Justin Ferguson trafficked one person over six years through deception, coercion and control, and kept the money the person earned. He was arrested on October 13 and charged with trafficking in persons, procuring, receiving material or financial benefits, firearms offences and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

Police also allege Ferguson trafficked a second person over 11 years through deception, coercion and control, and kept the money the person earned. They allege he first met and sexually exploited that person while they were under 18.

Ferguson was arrested again on October 27, police said. The charges from that arrest include trafficking and procuring involving a person under 18, receiving financial or material benefits, firearms offences, assault and sexual exploitation of a young person. He also faces charges of trafficking and procuring involving an adult.

Police said Ferguson was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on October 14 and October 28, following the respective arrests. The release did not report the outcomes of those appearances.

Police encouraged affected people to report human trafficking and said they want to ensure access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of whether someone decides to proceed criminally.
