CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective

From CrimeCanada.ca’s standpoint, this weekly snapshot from Chilliwack RCMP shows how property crime, assaults, substance use, and mental health concerns interact to shape everyday safety in British Columbia communities. Vehicle break-ins, unlocked cars, bear spray misuse, and impaired driving are recurring risks that the public can actively help reduce by locking vehicles, securing valuables, avoiding confrontations with aggressive individuals, and promptly reporting suspicious behaviour. Seasonal gatherings at lakes and campgrounds also demand extra attention to supervision of children, responsible alcohol use, and respect for court conditions and traffic laws. Community cooperation with police investigations—especially by sharing useful CCTV footage when requested—is a key piece of building safer neighbourhoods across Chilliwack and the wider province.
