High-Risk Collision: Single-Vehicle Rollover
Police and emergency crews were called to a serious single-vehicle rollover at the on-ramp to Highway 1 from Yale Road / Vedder Road. The vehicle was reported to be accelerating quickly while merging onto the highway when the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle.
- One man was trapped in the vehicle when first responders arrived.
- Fire services extricated the driver, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
- An impaired driving investigation is underway.
- The RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) examined the scene in detail.
Water Safety: Paddleboarders Adrift on Cultus Lake
The RCMP Seasonal Policing Team responded to a report of two overdue paddleboarders—a man and a young child—on Cultus Lake. They had gone out with only one life jacket between them and no cellphone, raising concern when they did not return as expected.
- Officers conducted boat patrols to search the lake.
- Two passing boaters located the pair and brought them safely to shore.

Youths with a Knife – Downtown Chilliwack

Man with a Knife – Yale Road Business
An employee at a Yale Road store reported that a man placed merchandise into a bag and, when confronted, produced a knife in a threatening way.
- The suspect fled the area before police arrived and was not located.
- Investigators are working to obtain and review video surveillance to identify the man.
Property Crime: Break and Enters, Vehicle and Boat Thefts
Break and Enter – Business (Vedder Road)
A business on Vedder Road was broken into when unknown suspects threw a large object through the front window to get inside.
- Multiple items were stolen.
- Police are awaiting video footage to help identify suspects.
Break and Enter – Residential Garage (Third Avenue)
Unknown suspects reportedly forced entry into a residential garage on Third Avenue and stole two high-value e-bikes.
- The two e-bikes are valued at several thousand dollars.
- No suspect descriptions were released.
Attempted Boat Theft – Promontory
A homeowner in Promontory reported that an unknown man backed a vehicle up to their boat and trailer in an apparent attempt to steal it.
- The homeowner confronted the man, who claimed he was only checking if the boat was for sale.
- The suspect left the area; patrols did not locate the vehicle.
- Vehicle information suggests the registered owner lives in another Lower Mainland jurisdiction.
Attempted Vehicle Theft – Elm Drive
On Elm Drive, four masked suspects reportedly tried to steal a vehicle by pushing it out of a driveway.
- The homeowner interrupted the theft, and the suspects fled.

Vehicle Theft – Nicolem Crescent
A vehicle was stolen from Nicolem Crescent after it was left unlocked with the keys inside.
- Information later indicated the vehicle may have been in the Cultus Lake area.
- Some contents from the vehicle were recovered near Switzer Creek.
- The vehicle itself is still outstanding.
Retail Crime and Youth Disorder
Shoplifting and Breach of Conditions – Luckakuck Way
A loss prevention officer at a business on Luckakuck Way reported a woman leaving the store with unpaid items.
- Police located the woman on a nearby transit bus, still in possession of the stolen goods.
- She was also found with tools commonly used in property crime, contrary to court-ordered conditions.
- The woman was arrested and held for court.
Shoplifting and Assault – Yale Road
At another Yale Road business, a woman known to police attempted to leave with unpaid merchandise and assaulted security staff who tried to stop her.
- Officers attended and arrested the woman.
- She is scheduled for a future court appearance.
Mischief and Youth Behaviour on City Bus
A city bus driver reported several intoxicated and disruptive youths on a bus, including damage to a window.
- Officers attended and removed the youths from the bus.
- It could not be determined who was responsible for the window damage.
- One youth refused to leave and became confrontational, resulting in their arrest.
- The bus driver declined to pursue charges, asking only that the youths be removed.
- Youths were later spoken to by police about the risks of their behaviour and then reunited with parents.
