Community Alert: Multiple Sexual Offence Charges in Grande Prairie

A 32-year-old man, identified by police as Joseph Kidd of Grande Prairie, has been charged in connection with multiple alleged sexual offences involving youth and young adult females across several recent incidents.
Between April and June 2026, investigators allege that Kidd used social media and in-person contact to engage with female victims aged 12 to 18, and then drove or lured them to his residence in Grande Prairie. The reported conduct includes sexual assault, sexual interference with minors, forcible confinement, choking during assaults, criminal harassment, abduction of a child under 14, and repeated violations of court-ordered release conditions. Police now believe additional victims may exist and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

April 17, 2026 – Alleged sexual offences involving 14-year-old from B.C.
On April 17, 2026, a 14-year-old female from British Columbia attended the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment and reported that she had been sexually assaulted. She told police she had met Kidd online through social media. Police state that Kidd allegedly drove from Alberta to B.C. to pick her up, returned with her to his residence in Grande Prairie, and that she stayed there for about a week before leaving while he was away at work.
As a result of this investigation, Joseph Kidd (32) was charged with:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Forcible confinement
- Assault while choking
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was initially remanded in custody until April 20, 2026, then released on April 30, 2026 by a judge with several court-ordered conditions.
May 10, 2026 – Alleged assault of 18-year-old female
On May 10, 2026, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a 911 call at Kidd’s residence. Police say their investigation determined that Kidd had driven to Lloydminster to pick up an 18-year-old female and brought her back to his home. When she declined to engage in sexual activity, he allegedly assaulted her.
In connection with this incident, Kidd was charged with:
- Assault
- Assault while choking
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with release order (three counts)
After another Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was released on June 1, 2026, by a Justice of the Peace, subject to multiple conditions and a $7,500 cash bail, with a scheduled appearance at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 22, 2026.
June 4–18, 2026 – Alleged offences involving a 15-year-old girl
On June 18, 2026, a 15-year-old female reported to the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment that Kidd had repeatedly followed her and offered her alcohol if she entered his vehicle. On one occasion, she got into his vehicle and he allegedly drove her to his residence, where she reported being sexually assaulted. Police indicate multiple incidents took place between June 4 and June 18, 2026.
As a result, Kidd was charged with:
- Criminal harassment
- Sexual interference
- Sexual assault
- Fail to comply with release conditions
June 18, 2026 – Alleged attempted luring and abduction of 12-year-old
Also on June 18, 2026, Grande Prairie RCMP received a 911 call from the mother of a 12-year-old female. She reported that a man driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro convertible had attempted to lure her child into his vehicle. Officers conducted immediate patrols and located Kidd driving a vehicle matching the description.
Following this investigation, Kidd was charged with:
- Abduction of a person under 14 years old
- Fail to comply with release conditions
After a further Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Kidd was remanded into custody to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 22, 2026. A subsequent court date has been set for July 2, 2026.

Grande Prairie RCMP have stated that they believe additional victims may exist. They have released an image of Kidd and his yellow Chevrolet Camaro to assist in identifying any further affected individuals.
