RCMP Alert: Three Arrested After Home Invasion, Attempted Murder in Harbour Grace

Community Safety Alert – Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador

The RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador Major Crimes Unit, working with the East District General Investigation Section (GIS), has arrested three men in connection with a violent home invasion and a related attempted homicide in Harbour Grace. Both incidents happened in the early morning hours of Friday, July 3, 2026, and police believe the victims and suspects were already known to one another.

RCMP investigators say three suspects forced their way into a residence, assaulting one occupant with a weapon, and later a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck near a second home in the community. Police have determined the collision was a deliberate act of retaliation tied to the earlier break and enter. All three accused are scheduled to appear in Harbour Grace Provincial Court on Monday, July 6, 2026, as the investigation continues and further charges remain possible.

Official RCMP Incident Details

On July 3, 2026, officers from Trinity-Conception District RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a home in Harbour Grace. According to police:

  • Three suspects allegedly forced their way into a residence.
  • One person inside the home was assaulted with a weapon.
  • The victim was taken to hospital; injuries were described as serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

While this first incident was under investigation, police received a second call reporting a hit-and-run collision involving a pickup truck and a pedestrian outside another residence in Harbour Grace. In that incident:

  • A pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck.
  • The vehicle left the scene.
  • The pedestrian was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit, East District GIS, and the Forensic Identification Section became involved and determined the two events were linked. Investigators believe the hit-and-run was an intentional act carried out in retaliation for the earlier home invasion and assault.

With assistance from Trinity-Conception District RCMP, officers located three suspects and arrested them without further incident, preventing additional escalation.

CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective

From the perspective of CrimeCanada.ca, this incident highlights the serious risks that can arise when targeted violence escalates from a home invasion to a retaliatory attack in public space. Even when those involved know each other, violence of this kind can spill over and endanger bystanders, neighbours, and first responders. In communities across Newfoundland and Labrador, including nearby coastal towns such as Hant’s Harbour, timely reporting of suspicious activity, quick calls to police when violence occurs, and sharing of video evidence are critical to stopping further harm.

General safety practices for residents include keeping doors and windows secured, ensuring exterior lighting and home cameras (if available) are functional, and immediately calling police if you witness dangerous driving, suspected retaliation, or groups attempting forced entry. Supporting investigations by sharing accurate information with the RCMP or Crime Stoppers helps hold violent offenders accountable and strengthens overall community safety.
