Three people, including two Milton men, have been charged after a vehicle-financing fraud investigation, Halton Regional Police said. Officers carried out five search warrants in Milton and Toronto on October 20, 2026, and arrested two men and one woman.
How the investigation began
According to police, the HRPS Financial Crimes Unit launched Project Macan in May 2026 after a 2018 Porsche Macan was bought from an Oakville dealership with a stolen identity and fake paperwork. The vehicle was later recovered in Milton.
Investigators then uncovered other fraudulent vehicle-financing deals, police said. These allegedly involved stolen identities, false employment and financial information, forged documents and stolen credit card information.
