CrimeCanada.ca Safety Perspective

From the perspective of CrimeCanada.ca, targeted break and enters against businesses—especially those involving specialized equipment like laser devices—can signal organized or repeat criminal activity. Incidents occurring in the early morning hours, as seen here in Airdrie and Cochrane, often rely on low traffic and reduced witnesses, which makes community vigilance and video evidence especially important. We encourage business owners to regularly test alarms, ensure cameras cover entrances and parking areas, and securely store high-value equipment out of plain view. Residents who are out driving or walking late at night can contribute to community safety by reporting suspicious behaviour promptly and preserving dash or home security footage when incidents are reported nearby. Sharing tips, even if they seem minor, can be the missing piece that helps RCMP identify suspects and prevent further offences.
