RCMP Weapons Complaint Leads to Multiple Charges in Tarbotvale
Community Safety Alert – Victoria County, Nova Scotia
On the evening of June 21, 2026, officers from Victoria County District RCMP responded to an urgent weapons complaint involving a man reportedly carrying firearms outside a home on Tarbotvale Rd. in Tarbotvale, Nova Scotia. The suspect had left the area alone in a Dodge pickup truck before police arrived, prompting a coordinated search.
With support from RCMP Northeast Traffic Services – Cape Breton and an RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, officers located the truck near Organ Rd. around 9 p.m. A brief vehicle pursuit followed when the driver did not stop for police. In the interest of public safety, officers slowed and turned off their emergency equipment, later learning that the truck had been abandoned on West Tarbotvale Rd. The suspect was found a short time later back on Tarbotvale Rd. and taken into custody without incident. No firearms were found on him at the time of arrest.

Through further investigation, officers determined that the accused had also allegedly threatened a woman known to him in late 2025. As a result of the investigation into both the historic incident and the June 21 events, the following charges have been laid against the accused.
Accused: Kevin Michael MacEachern, 39, of Goose Cove, Nova Scotia

- Uttering Threats – involving a woman known to the accused

- Careless Use of Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Flight from Peace Officer (failing to stop for police after emergency equipment was activated)
- Theft
MacEachern is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on June 24, 2026.
