Dauphin RCMP say a Winnipeg woman has been charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with an undertaking after reports of shoplifting at a business on Main Street South. Police arrested her on Nov. 4.

According to police, the arrest came after the woman had been charged with theft in connection with an Oct. 25 incident at the same business. She had been released with conditions not to return to the store.

RCMP said officers were first called to the business in the 1400 block of Main Street South at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Oct. 25. Police said they learned that a woman had put items in her bag and left without paying, despite employees telling her she needed to pay.

Officers identified a suspect and arrested her that afternoon at a different store, police said. She was charged with theft and held overnight before being released with a condition that she not return to the business.

On Nov. 4, at approximately 4:40 p.m., police were notified that she had returned to the store and was suspected of stealing items. She had left when patrolling officers found her a short time later near 1st Street Southeast and 7th Avenue Southeast. Police said the arrest was made without incident.

Officers also linked her to a theft at a second store, with items found in her possession, according to the RCMP. Gina McKay, 34, of Winnipeg, is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with an undertaking. She was released on a release order.
