Grand Rapids RCMP arrested a 31-year-old truck driver on Highway 6 on Nov. 4, 2026, after receiving multiple complaints that a semi-truck was swerving between lanes and moving into the path of oncoming traffic, police said.

By about 4:30 p.m., police had been receiving complaints concerning a semi hauling heavy equipment on a flatbed trailer. Officers began patrols and soon found a truck matching the description about three kilometres north of Grand Rapids, according to the RCMP.

Police said officers also saw the semi swerving and immediately pulled it over. The male driver was asked for his driver’s licence but could not provide it. When he got out of the truck, officers saw open alcohol in plain view inside, the RCMP said.

The man was later released on an appearance notice, according to the RCMP. Grand Rapids RCMP thanked the motorists who called in, saying their timely reports allowed officers to find the semi quickly and apprehend the driver.
